When a yacht remains in an owner's possession for more than 30 years, this initially speaks in favour of the owner's satisfaction with the design, although it is somewhat surprising when the reason given for the sale is the desire for more comfort. At least in the case of the Bandholm 28 we tested, because it offers the best conditions for safe, problem-free and therefore comfortable cruising.
Designer Knud Olsen, who became internationally known for the development of the OK dinghy, has done an outstanding job here.
Anyone familiar with today's yachts, which always react vividly to the tiller or wheel, will be amazed at how relaxed it is to sail this aged design. Only minor tiller movements are required for course corrections, which require little force, the helmsman has a quiet job and an autopilot is not absolutely necessary.
